Horn Named to National Clinical Engineering Organization
Brian Piper
Heidi Horn, Vice President of Clinical Engineering Service, has been asked to join the five-person Executive Committee of AAMI’s Technology Management Council (TMC).
The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is a nonprofit organization whose focus is supporting the health care community on the development, management, and use of safe and effective medical technology.
The TMC is made up of 25 health care technology management (clinical engineering) leaders from across the country. The TMC represents professionals who purchase, service, and maintain medical technology — including hospitals, the government, clinical device manufacturers, and other industry associations.
“I have been a member of AAMI’s Technology Management Council for more than two years,” Horn says. “The council is made up of some of the most well-known and highly respected health care technology management professionals in the country, so to be asked to help lead this team is a huge honor and a testament to how well respected SSM Clinical Engineering Service is in the industry.”
One of the main goals of the TMC is to help promote the clinical engineering profession and provide AAMI membership with resources, including identification and sharing of best practices, Joint Commission guidance, career resources, benchmarking data, etc.
