Desktop Management Services 

The Desktop Management Services department provides and supports the SSM Health Care  directory services infrastructure, desktop management environment, and system remote access infrastructure all required for the delivery of seamless secure client access into the information systems supported by SSM Integrated Health Technologies.

Desktop Management Service roles and responsibilities can be broken down as follows:

  • Active Directory Services
  • Domain infrastructure services; DC, DHCP, DNS, WINS, DFS
  • Domain infrastructure servers
  • Home file servers for St. Louis region
  • Network printing
  • Group Policy Management - computer, user, IE, logon, startup policies.
  • SMS - Desktop patch management, hardware inventory, software inventory, utilization, software distribution
  • Secondary Desktop Support
  • Novell Directory Services
  • Novell file servers secondary support
  • Novell eDirectory Services
  • Novell eDirectory infrastructure servers
  • Metadirectory Services
  • DIRXML for directory synchronization
  • Novell iChain – Reverse Proxy
  • Software Packaging
  • Citrix – Application Publishing
  • EPIC Workstation and Print
  • Proactive Monitoring
  • Training support staff related to supported product lines

The desktop management services team supports a significant infrastructure that includes approximately 300 servers, 15,000+ desktops, 300+ thin clients, 300+ application software packages, 135 iChain accelerators, and 275 Citrix published applications.
